LOS ANGELES: Actress Demi Moore announced "with great sadness" Thursday the end of her high-profile marriage to Ashton Kutcher, after his reported infidelity with a woman less than half her age.
The confirmation comes after months of media reports about problems between the Hollywood power couple, who married in 2005 when she was 42 and he was 27. She had earlier been married to actor Bruce Willis for 13 years.
"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton," the 49-year-old said in a statement issued through her publicist.
"As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life."
Thirty-three year-old Kutcher, who recently took over from troubled star Charlie Sheen in the hit TV series "Two and a Half Men," tweeted a poignant message minutes after Moore's announcement.
"I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK," he wrote.
As well as being a famous acting couple, Moore and Kutcher have both been pioneers of the use of social media, notably Twitter.
Moore, whose movies include "Ghost" (1990), "A Few Good Men" (1992), "Indecent Proposal" (1993) and "G.I. Jane" (1997), may have to get a new Twitter name: her current one is @mrskutcher.

MUMBAI: With Wanted, Dabangg, Ready and Bodyguard all becoming mega hits Salman Khan has become one of the most sought after actors today. With his next film Ek Tha Tiger already in production and Dabangg 2 in process Salman is all set for exciting times ahead.
Though he may have a line-up of films in the pipeline, Salman has agreed to star in Subhash Ghai’s next film in 2012.
The buzz is that Salman will be doing Ghai’s film in October next year. There are also talks that A.R.Rahman would be composing music for this project. Ghai and Salman had worked together earlier in Yuvvraaj in 2008 but the film unfortunately bombed at the B.O.
Confirming the same Ghai says, “Yes Salman has agreed to do the film, but right now I prefer keeping thing under wraps, all I can say is that it’s going to be a big budgeted action entertainer, that I will direct myself while three other writers of mine are completing the script. As for the actress I will decide that only when the final script is ready.”

The Iron Lady was not made with a prize in mind

13
LONDON: “The Iron Lady,” Meryl Streep’s latest biopic, will make its world premiere in Beijing on Saturday evening during the China-U.S. Forum on the Arts and Culture.
When asked whether the film is gunning for an Academy Award in 2012, the Oscar-winning actress said it was not made with a prize in mind.
“The movie has an ambition to be written by a woman, directed by a woman, and it has an ambition to reach an audience that isn’t served currently,” she said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua.
Streep dove into research in order to take on the role of Britain’s first female prime minister Margaret Thatcher, who governed Britain from 1979 to 1990 with pro-free market zeal.
“Thatcher was a very strong leader at a time when a woman leader was extremely unusual,” she said.
Streep remembered being excited when Thatcher was elected in 1979, even though she didn’t agree with Thatcher’s policies as a young woman.
“In that time, I think she broke ground in people’s perceptions,” she said, adding that she thinks Thatcher’s success had great symbolic effect in Britain, when there was prejudice against women.
The 62-year-old actress joked that the marketing department of her movie company thinks the film is boring, because half of the film is about an old lady, her memories of her husband and her interactions with her daughter.
“It’s after power, it’s how we take leave of things after a big ambitious life,” she said. “The things she had to give up in order to have a life she chose are really interesting to me.”
When asked how she successfully interprets different characters, Streep said, “Everybody that I have played is a little bit like me, I just need to find the part of myself that’s like that person.”
“There are a lot of roles for young girls, but there are just so few roles for a woman of my age, so I am representing something, I am taking one for my team,” she said in response to a question about maintaining her presence on the big screen.
Meanwhile, she noted that Chinese culture isn’t very present in the United States, and “it’s not distributed widely.”
She recalled her cooperation with Chinese actor Liu Ye in the movie “Dark Matter” several years ago, and expressed a willingness to cooperate with Chinese filmmakers in the future.
