MUMBAI: Bipasha Basu and John Abraham made headlines a few weeks ago with regard to their upcoming on-screen reunion. It was suggested that the ex-couple agreed to shoot a few scenes together for Abbas-Mustan’s Race 2.
However, Bipasha denies teaming up with John. “It’s absolutely true that I have a special appearance in Race 2. But let me clarify that I don’t have anything to do with John in it,” says Bipasha, whose next film, Players is also directed by Abbas Mustan.
In the sequel to the 2009 hit, John plays a villain, while Bipasha, who was seen opposite Saif Ali Khan in the first part, doesn’t have much screen time.
John had started his career with Bipasha in the Bhatts’ Jism (2003). The pair later went on to work together in films such as Madhoshi (2004) and Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal (2007). But lately, John and Bips, after their decade-long relationship came to an end, seem to be maintaining a distance. Recently, the two were reportedly shooting at the same time at Filmistan, but avoided bumping into each other.
On her part, Bipasha says she’s enjoying the ‘single’ status, but insists she’s still on cupid’s radar. “I am open to love. You know, I would like to believe that I am a very loveable person,” she laughs, adding, “So, I don’t know why I should be averse to love.”
And is marriage on the cards? “How does one decide when marriage or love will happen? Such things are sensitive matters of the heart and can’t be planned or manipulated. If you are supposed to fall in love or get married, it will happen, no matter how hard you try not to. I can’t say if I will fall in love a month or two later,” she says.
For now, what makes Bipasha happy is her bikini outing in Players. “I was petrified of wearing a bikini in Dhoom 2 (2006). But this time, I went on a diet for six weeks — eating high protein, low fat and carbs — for the first time. And despite being very critical about myself, I loved the end result,” she says.
Bips too scared to kiss onscreen
With her recent ‘lips like Bips’ commercial, one would not think that Bipasha Basu is shy of locking lips. However, the actor confesses that she finds kissing scenes “tough.” The actor adds that “every time a kissing sequence comes, I get it off from the film. “And till date, I have been quite successful”. “Lovemaking scenes are much easier. Kissing happens for real, but in a lovemaking scene, we cheat a lot. I have kissed Ranbir (Kapoor) in Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008). And before that, my then boyfriend (John in Jism). So that doesn’t matter.”
